Hoopla Movie Recommendations that are Worth the Limited Rentals

What is Hoopla: A Digital media streaming platform that is FREE through your public Library.

How Does It Work: It is a digital library; you get a limited number of digital content every month (7 rentals) and you get a limited time with the content. It is free with my public library card.

What Type Of Content: Audio books, ebooks, Tv shows, Movies, and even music.

Pro: Large amount of digital content to pick from

Con: Not too many newer movies, Tv shows, and can only get a limited number of it which makes it challenging to pick something you’ve never seen or heard of (or maybe not).

Seven Movies that I recommend:

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Year: 2016

Set: New Zealand

Thoughts: This movie is funny, sweet, quirky. A heartwarming movie about a boy in the foster system who was going to be returned after a death of the wife. He runs away and the husband goes after him.

Everything Everywhere All At Once

Year: 2022

Thoughts: This movie was weird, if you are into something different, don’t mind some subtitles, it is a fun movie.

Okko’s Inn

Year: 2018

Thoughts: Cute, animated movie. Tells the story of a young girl who lost both her parents and how she finds her way by running an inn.

The Hating Game

Year: 2021

Thoughts: rom com, very cute and wholesome movie, a love story, if you want a low stake and an overall enjoyable movie this is it. A young professional woman works in a shared space with this attractive man. They both want the same promotion and so the games begin.

Ella Enchanted

Year: 2004

Thoughts: Very sweet, wholesome, feel good, a little drama. A young woman gets “stuck” with the gift of obedience but is falling in love with a prince. A very cute fairy tale adventure.

She’s the Man

Year: 2006

Thoughts: Funny, quirky, secondhand embarrassment. This movie is cute Amanda Bynes. She wants to play soccer (football) but they only accept boys, so she pretends to be her brother so she can play.

White Chicks

Year: 2004

Thoughts: Adult humor, bit of drama. Tells the story of two black men that have to become these two white women to try to keep their jobs.
